Profile tolerancing can control a contoured CNC surface more clearly than dozens of coordinate dimensions, but only when the nominal geometry, datum frame, tolerance-zone disposition, scope, and inspection method are unambiguous. A feature-control frame attached to an undefined region of a complex model can create more disagreement than it removes.
