Mold components combine complex 3D geometry, tool steel, heat treatment, EDM, wire cutting, grinding and assembly-critical datum relationships. QuickCNCs plans these operations as a sequence so stock allowance, hardness, electrodes and final inspection remain consistent.
Specify the exact tool-steel grade, initial condition, target hardness and approved heat-treatment route. Rough machining leaves deliberate allowance for distortion and cleanup. Hardened features may move to EDM, wire EDM and grinding rather than forcing all work into hard milling.
Assembly faces, insert pockets, shutoffs and moving interfaces need an explicit datum scheme. CMM reports can document selected coordinates and profiles; micrometers, gauges and indicators cover appropriate conventional features. Provide 3D data, controlled 2D drawings, material and hardness, surface requirements, mating information and requested reports.
Provide controlled 3D and 2D data, material and condition, quantity, finish, critical characteristics, inspection documentation and target delivery. State any approved alternatives or supplier restrictions.
Tolerance is reviewed by feature against size, geometry, material, setup, process sequence and measurement. The quotation records assumptions; it does not extend one tight value to every dimension.
